Is Web Registration the same as Provider Enrollment?
No - Web Registration allows web portal access to providers already enrolled in the New Mexico Medicaid program. Providers can obtain full access to the web portal by visiting the New Mexico Medicaid home page and clicking the I'm a new user hyperlink in the user login area. To begin registration, the user will be asked to enter the Provider ID, EIN/SSN, and Location Zip Code associated with the account. As part of this process, the user will be asked to create a unique user ID that will be used when signing on to the portal. A one-time use password will then be sent to the e-mail account supplied during registration. This password must be changed upon initial log in. At this point, the provider may then log in and begin utilizing the functionality residing in secure areas of the portal.

Provider Enrollment is the process of enrolling in the New Mexico Medicaid program. To begin the process, providers can download an enrollment packet with submission instructions on the Provider Information page.

What is an EIN/SSN and is the Provider ID my TAX ID?
The EIN/SSN is your Tax ID. The Provider ID is NOT your Federal Tax ID; it is a 2-8 digit number that is assigned to you by the New Mexico Medicaid Program. If you are not sure what your Provider ID is, it can be found on any RA (Remittance Advice) you receive. It will be located on the top left of the report and will appear as Provider No: xxxxxxxx where "x" is an alpha-numeric value.
Note: If the provider ID assigned is less than 8 characters, it will be pre-filled with zeroes.

Why is the initial password so complicated and why must I change it the first time I log in?
The system automatically generates these passwords without using physical words. Please note that you will be prompted to change your initial password by re-entering the email-generated password and creating a new one. The best method to enter your temporary password from the email is to simply use MS Window's copy and paste functionality. To copy, highlight the desired text, press and hold the CTRL and C keys simultaneously. To paste the text string, place the cursor in the Password field and press and hold the CTRL and V keys simultaneously. Your new password is case-sensitive, must be 8-12 characters in length, cannot be the same as your User ID, and must contain a combination of alphanumeric characters and at least one of the following special characters: $, #, @.

If I register to use the web portal with my NPI, do I lose web portal access using my NM Medicaid ID?

What are the advantages of registering on the web portal with my NPI if I am already registered with my NM Medicaid ID?
By registering to use the web portal with their NPI, providers who have more than one NM Medicaid ID that are all associated with the same NPI can access information for all their NM Medicaid IDs without having to use the "change provider" feature. This can be particularly helpful for supervisors and managers who are responsible for more than one facility that have different NM Medicaid IDs. Remember, for this to be possible, each of your NM Medicaid IDs must have the same NPI associated with it on their individual provider files in the NM Medicaid claims processing system.

If my organization has already registered on the web portal with our NM Medicaid IDs and we also register on the web portal with our single NPI, can I still limit my staff's access to information pertaining to only certain of our NM Medicaid IDs?
Yes. You can limit staff's access to specific NM Medicaid IDs by NOT signing them up as users under the NPI account. This means you will have to register to use the web portal with each of your NM Medicaid IDs if you have not already done so. If you have more than one NM Medicaid ID and only one NPI associated with those IDs and you are only registered to use the web portal with your NPI, there is not a way to limit other users to access information to specific NM Medicaid IDs.
